Legislation

Legislative Mission

The Association of Surgical Assistants (ASA) supports legislative and regulatory efforts to ensure that surgical assistants are credentialed as CSFAs, CSAs
or SA-Cs.

Furthermore, ASA supports state and federal legislative and/or regulatory efforts that will require reimbursement of surgical assistants who provide first assisting services that would otherwise be reimbursable to other health care professionals.

At the national level, ASA works closely with state surgical assisting organizations not only to educate surgical assisting members about successful advocacy methods but also to develop long-term tactics to achieve legal and professional recognition.
